Free No-Sew Crochet Otter Pattern

This cute otter will be a hit at markets! Using this easy free no-sew crochet otter pattern you can whip up a number of them in no time.

Supplies you will need to crochet an Otter

• 4.5mm crochet hook
• stitch markers
• yarn needle
• safety eyes: I like 14 mm but use whatever size you like
• stuffing I use polyfil
• scissors

Terms and Abbreviations

sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
ch – chain
st – stitch
mr – magic ring
inc – increase
dec – decrease
yo – yarn over
4bo – *yo, insert hook into stitch, pull yarn through, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook* Repeat 4 times then yo and pull through all 5 loops on hook.

Notes

-In this free no sew ghost pattern, you will have a cute ghost in less than an hour.

-If you choose to use a different yarn you may need a larger or smaller hook. It may turn out differently than intended.

-I use the yarn over method for my crochet stitches. If you do yarn under your stitches may look slightly different.

-stitch count totals at the end of each round unless the round is just sc.

-for the rounds with BO sts, depending on your tension you may need to change the placement by a st or two to make the second set of BO sts line up with the first.

Starting at the head

Round 1: with face color 8sc in mr. 8sc
Round 2: 8inc. 16sc
Round 3: *sc, inc* x8. 24sc
Round 4-7: 24sc
Round 8: *sc, dec* x8. 16sc Place safety eyse between rounds 5-6 about 5 sts apart. Stuff head.
Round 9: 8dec. 8sc change to body color in last dec.
Round 10: with body color, 8inc. 16sc
Round 11: *3sc, inc* x4. 20sc
Round 12: 5sc, 4BO, 5sc, 4BO, 8sc. 20sc
Round 13-14: 20sc
Round 15: 5sc, 4BO, 6sc, 4BO, 7sc. 20sc
Round 16: *2sc, dec* x5. 15sc Stuff body.
Round 17: *sc, dec* x5. 10sc
Round 18: 10sc
Round 19: *3sc, dec* x2. 8sc
Round 20: 8sc stuff remaining part of body/tail
Round 21: 4dec. 4sc
Cut yarn leave long tail. Cinch through front loops of round 21.

Ears

Looking at the face, starting with the right ear using body color attach yarn with sl st to the side of the head between rounds 3-4. dc in same st. Moving to next round between rounds 2-3 make 2dc. slst into same st and fasten off. Weave in tail.
Repeat on other side of head but start in btween rounds 2-3 and go down to round 3-4.
